Week 3
To all NUS students, it would be a time of labs and tutorials starting and not just lectures. Projects and assignments will start to roll in. Finally gotten my pair of jeans for Chinese New Year, wrapping up my shopping for new clothes for CNY.
Met up with Yuan-Jian, Christine, Xiangjun, Theresa and Junhao for dinner at Carl's Jr in Suntec and had a short prayer session for Teen Challenge staff and the boys there and also updating each other how we've been after the trip. We are not going back there to help them out for this semester but hope to help out after our exams are done. Pray for the staff as they continue to take care of the boys in Teen Challenge.
1st House On the Rock(HOR) is today and asked my disciples(juniors in Crusade) to come for the training as it's talking about the Heart of Discipleship even if they are not becoming SMs to listen to the message by the speaker. Keith got to prepare for an outreach in his church tomorrow so I dun blame him for not coming. Daniel, because of personal issues, felt that he's not prepared for coming today so asked to be excused.
William went home to rush his CZ(one of the programming modules) tutorial so he's not coming this evening. Was I wrong in not asking him to come for HOR and do the tutorial when he's back home? But he's got a heavy commitment in church too so maybe shouldn't go too hard on him.
Church Commitment VS Crusade Commitment. Both are doing God's work in different areas, helping different people but I feel that both commitments can be reached without compromising either one of them to increase the commitment of the other. After teaching these 3 guys and leading them for DG for 1 sem, I still can't say I really understand them well enough. Wanna encourage them to come for LMs and be a bit more frequent in their DGs but afraid that too much of such things will backfire.
I must come to understand that God's calling for them might not be in Crusade ministry but God is using Crusade to build them up further for His purpose as they walk further down in their spiritual life. However, I should not stop asking them to come for LMs if they are free to make it. LM(Life Meetings) might take one and a half hours of their Thursday to attend but I always think that it's also a good time to put the studies aside and get aligned with God to remind themselves that they are Christian students and not student Christians. No doubt CAP score are important to NUS students and a better CAP score means a better chance of securing a good job in the future and having good results can be used to honour God but I think having a good, accountable walk with God, spending time to meditate on His Word and praying should be more important if it's not just as important on studying on the modules in NUS.
Even though my CAP score is just 3.03 and not good enough to do Honours, much as I hope to do it, God's plan for me may not be in doing Honours. I'm not just saying this to stop myself from getting better results but it's about understanding God's plan for me is much higher and not up to me to control my life and say how I want it to be. I will still continue to give my best in the things I'm studying now but also give my best in all the things God has tasked me to do like leading the 3 of them for the rest of my sems in NUS. Just continue to pray to God for my walk with Him to grow strongly and continue to have the desire and passion to lead my guys for DG in this sem. I do feel like giving up at times by their unfrequent attendance and their priorities placed on their studies and thus unable to come for DG but really must pray to God about this issue of mine and really see them growing in their faith as I continue DG with them.
